Wine Review: Villa Maria ‘Private Bin’ Merlot 2009, Hawke’s Bay. A dark plum colour in the glass with cedar and oak with 5 spice overtones with blackberry and plum being the primary fruit on the nose. The palate is light and thin with balanced fruit but a little too much oak and some grippy tannin.
