Apart from Neudorf, Nelson doesn’t have too many house hold names when talking fine wine. Seifried have been making wine in the Nelson region since 1976 and now have over 180 hectares of land under vine and is one of the largest wineries in the region.

A recent winner in the Decanter World Wine Awards 2010, Seifried’s Sweet Agnes Riesling 2009 has had it’s fair share of success over the year, with golds in 3 other shows and picked up the trophy at The International Sweet Wine Over £10 Trophy – Decanter World Wine Awards 2010.

The wine is Spring and Autumn in aroma, with dried honied peach and citrus with spring flower overtones. The palate is rich and sweet with racy spicy acid and great texture and balance. This wine can either be drunk as an aperitif or dessert wine and will certainly be a dinner party success over the Christmas break.

Jayson’s roots in wine began when his father literally dragged him round France and injected his passion into him. From the age of 8 his family took month long holidays in France travelling through all regions and sampling their wine.
UnScrewed has reinvented the concept of wine tasting in New Zealand and along the way found a new and willing audience. In addition to encouraging straightforward wine tasting, Jayson educates viewers about the effects of regional factors (soil, sun, wind) on wine flavours, and how to buy wine.
