Morton Estate Black Label Chardonnay 2009 Hawke’s Bay

Morton Estate Black Label Chardonnay 2009 Hawke's BayMorton Estate are often over looked by the wine writing community, but they’re responsible for some of New Zealand’s most price conscious Chardonnays. Their Coniglio Chardonnay is in the top 5 Chardonnays for New Zealand. They also happen to make some of the best sparkling wine, bang for buck, that NZ has to offer.

The Morton Estate Black Label Chardonnay 2009 is their current release. They do things properly. They hold back their wines, under the Morton Estate label, until they are drinking at their best.

A humble wine relative to its big sister the Coniglio, but no less pleasurable. Ripe, lush, and laden with citrus, tropical fruit, and baked apple. That combined with a rich creaminess under pinned with oak. Cleansing and refreshing acidity, with good length and balance.
