Cable Bay Vineyards New Owners, It is officialCable Bay Vineyards

The Directors of Cable Bay Vineyards announced today the sale of Cable Bay to Neill Culley, Winemaker and founder of Cable Bay, together with a long time friend, Loukas Petrou, Managing Director of Canam Construction.

David Irving, Director said “We have enjoyed the journey as first shareholders of Cable Bay and are delighted for Neill and Loukas. We look forward to visiting and dining at Cable Bay and watch its success grow”.

Both Neill, Waiheke resident and Loukas, part time resident, have a passion for premium wines and exceptional hospitality. Their vision is to enhance the Cable Bay brand, grow the wine distribution and ensure that the facility remains a destination of choice for both locals and visitors.

They will be supported by General Manager, Nathalie Hinds, also a Waiheke resident, who has extensive experience in hospitality, tourism, event management and marketing. Sam Clark, Head Chef, Andreas Markgraf, Restaurant Manager and Carol Schofield, Office Manager remain the key managers supporting Nathalie in her role.

“Cable Bay has developed an outstanding reputation for its wines and its facility and I am very much looking forward to leading the team and contributing to the ongoing growth of the business while maintaining all the hard work that has been done since the opening in 2007. All staff members employed by the previous owners have been re-employed by Neill and Loukas. Our aim is to give the business the attention it deserves, to produce exceptional wines and a genuine quality experience for our customers” said Nathalie

“14 years ago, we were planting the first vines. Loukas was involved from 2006 with designing and building the restaurant and winery which opened back in 2007. Cable Bay has had an amazing start and I am determined to grow the business further. Today, purchasing Cable Bay, and receiving a couple of gold medals at the NZIWS last week has been quite empowering. (Gold for 2010 Malbec and 2010 Five Hills). I feel privileged to have Loukas, my friend, joining me in this venture and a dedicated team of loyal staff supporting me.” said Neill

The restaurant is now open for lunch and dinner on Thursdays in addition to the weekends.

The Wine Bar is opened daily from 12noon and Cellar Door daily from 11.00am until 5pm. A brand new Cable Bay tour experience will be launched during Labour weekend. For bookings please email: info@cablebay.co.nz
