Cabernet day

#CabernetDay

It doesn’t seem 365 days since the last Cabernet day, and yet it’s bearing down on us once again. Where were you for the last one?

Annual Cabernet day is on the 1st of September, so what are you doing to encourage and celebrate Cabernet and all its trimmings?

The southern hemisphere is in a premium positon to really get on board, as there’s nothing better than sucking down a hearty Cabernet beside the fire in the middle of Winter, or as I keep wanting to type ‘Wineter’.

Australia are behind this event like there’s no tomorrow, and for many of their wines there isn’t. So let New Zealand show the world, or at least encourage them to sample, how great New Zealand Cabernet’s have become. Only last week we were hearing how Mission Estate had beaten some of the worlds most expensive and prestigious Cabernets in a recent tasting.

Don’t let them dirty Aussie jam makers take all the glory and think about how you can get involved as a winery, retail store or bar. Cabernet Day on 1 September is a great opportunity to put region against region and see just how New Zealand Cabernet Sauvignon has come in recent years and now challenges the worlds best. Momentum is growing globally for this international social media event and Australian wineries are keen to show you the best wines they are producing. Register on http://cabernet.eventbrite.com/ to get involved.

Get in touch, register for yourselves, and make it happen. Alternatively view from afar Trish Barry and those cheeky Aussie’s taking all the glory.

UnScrewed has reinvented the concept of wine tasting in New Zealand and along the way found a new and willing audience. In addition to encouraging straightforward wine tasting, Jayson educates viewers about the effects of regional factors (soil, sun, wind) on wine flavours, and how to buy wine.
