Bargain of the week: Escarpment Riesling 2009

So this is the wine style that people love to hate. People often buy it without fully knowing what style they are buying.

This wine by Escarpment is in the off-dry style. There is sweetness but it doesn’t detract from the zippy little acid that runs from the front to back palate.

The full and rich citrus fruit underpin the texture of the wine, and that’s what this wine is all about. The full mouthfeel makes this wine a pleasure to drink.

Buy it through Glengarry here for under $12, usually $25

Escarpment wines are made by Larry McKenna, and the grapes are from Martinborough.

I liked the ’08 a little bit better… but this ’09 is pretty good too and at this price it is a fantastic bargain. I’d better get to Glengarry’s before it all goes!
