Bargain of the week: Askerne Chardonnay 2009 Hawke’s Bay

Hawke's Bay Chardonnay

Askerne Chardonnay 2009 Hawke's Bay

It’s amazing what the sale of the winery produces. This is clearance stock and it’s being sold by Advintage wines of Havelock North, Hawke’s bay.

Askerne winery are on the market, it’s been a tough time for New Zealand wineries since 2008, and they need to shift stock (as do most wineries).

This Chardonnay is full on Hawke’s bay. It’s lush sweet, but pure, ripe fruit leads into a rich palate. It’s not the type of Chardonnay that please many of the leaner palates, but if you like old school big buttery Chardonnays then this is just the ticket. Good oak, and lots going on.

RRP $24 but on Sale for $12 and under
