Are #wine days losing their flavour?

2012 #SauvBlanc Day - Global Tasting!Over the last few years there’s been a plethora of wine days on Twitter. From Chardonnay Day through to Grenache day they’ve come and gone. With the advent of platforms such as twitter, Facebook, and event management portal Eventbrite globale tasting days have proved popular.

Champions of the social media tastings include Gary vaynerchuk, Trish Barry, and Rick Bakas. Together they championed single varieties and got the world abuzz with brands and wines that without social media most of us would’ve never have heard of. That was then, now with every popular grape having had its day are the tasting days losing their flavour? Have we been saturated with content, that we simply don’t care anymore? Should we be looking at different ways to romote and make cut through on these platforms?

So many questions, but what do these days mean to you?

The next #wine day is a grape close to my heart, Sauvignon Blanc. So if you have the inclination to join, and I’m sure you’ll have fun, sign up here, or simply take part on the day.

UnScrewed has reinvented the concept of wine tasting in New Zealand and along the way found a new and willing audience. In addition to encouraging straightforward wine tasting, Jayson educates viewers about the effects of regional factors (soil, sun, wind) on wine flavours, and how to buy wine.
